FUNDING GIRL SCOUTING

Girl Scouts of Otahki Council recognizes the importance of understanding and increasing the diversity of its income streams. To ensure continued growth, The Girl Scouts of Otahki Council must develop a financially sound mix of income from adult-generated sources including United Way, businesses, corporations, foundations, friends, parents and Girl Scout volunteers.

MAJOR SOURCES OF ADULT-GENERATED FUNDING

· Annual Giving Campaign - Council volunteers contact businesses, organizations and individuals for financial support. In addition to funding Girl Scout program for all girls, a percentage is used to assist girls in financial need participate in Girl Scouting.

·
Friends and Alumni of Otahki Girl Scout Council -Individual donors who contribute $100 or more become members of the Friends and Alumni of Otahki Girl Scout Council. Members are recognized at the annual Women's Impact breakfast.

· Parents In Partnership (PIP) - Parents demonstrate their belief in Girl Scouting and the benefits for their daughter by making a donation during the PIP Campaign. Funding from PIP Campaign is designated for a specific project or program.

·
United Way - Otahki Council receives annual allocation from the United Way of Southeast Missouri and the United Way of Southern Illinois. United Way income accounts for approximately 10% of annual operating budget.

·
Gifts In Kind - Gifts of material or products when the council can use the gift.

·
Planned Gifts - A donor may arrange in a will, insurance policy or other instrument that the council be designated as a beneficiary to receive a gift from the donor's estate. Check out the Planned Giving Brochure for more information.

·
Grants - Funding for special programs from government, corporations, foundations and individuals.

·
Tributes and Memorials -Memorial gifts are made in someone's memory, tribute gifts honor someone on a special occasion.

· Special Events - Events that diversify funding sources showcase the Girl Scout purpose and program.
